Professor Rigoberto E. M. Morales holds a B.Sc. degree in Fluid Mechanical Engineering from UNMSM, Lima, Peru, an M.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UFU, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and a Ph.D. degree from Unicamp, São Paulo, Brazil. From 2000 to 2003 he worked as a postdoc researcher at Unicamp. Prof. Morales became a professor in the Academic Department of Mechanical Engineering of UTFPR, Paraná, Brazil, from 2003 onward. He is also a professor at the PPGEM – the Post-Graduate Program on Mechanical Engineering and Materials – in the same University. In his capacity as the coordinator of NUEM-Multiphase Flow Research Center, he has developed several innovative R&D projects under the sponsorship of major oil & gas companies and governmental institutions such as PETROBRAS, REPSOL/SINOPEC, TOTAL S.A, FINEP, CNPq, The Newton Fund (United Kingdom), European Union (Marie Curie) and Coopera (France). Professor Morales keeps a close collaboration with renowned professors and researchers in the United States and Europe (United Kingdom, France). He acts as a Referee of a handful of highly regarded, peer-reviewed scientific journals of high impact factors. He is a member of ABCM and ASME. Prof. Morales has authored an excess of 300 scientific articles published in highly qualified journals and international/national conferences. He supervised or co-supervised 10 Ph.D. and 31 M.Sc. theses. Presently, Prof. Morales develops several fundamental and applied research in the areas of Fluid Mechanics, Multiphase Flows, and Flow Assurance.
